Neyko Bodurov was born in 1982 and raised on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, the city of Varna. He received his education in Germany and the Netherlands. The most intence musical experince Neyko optained from his work as a scholarship student at Ensemble Modern Frankfurt Foundation „NRW“. He also took part in varieties projects with Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Gstaad Festival Orchester, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Bach Solisten, Klang Forum Vienna, the European Jazz Orchestra. In 2007 Neyko Bodurov received the European Award “Pro Europa” of European Foundation for Culture. In 2011 Neyko joined the jazz department of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

In 2012 Neyko Bodurov came back in his hometown participating as a collaborator and a member in projects such as the Nu Jazz formation JazzProfilactika and the Varna Swing Orchestra Project. In 2015 he started producing the initiative Bandwagon (involving local and guest musicians) and later set his own music project Bandwagon acoustic (sextet). Every year in April he is the main initiator of International Jazz day celebrations in Varna. In 2018 his company TUNE UP has launched the first edition of VARNA JAZZ DAYS FESTIVAL. In the same year TUNE UP also produced Neyko’s debut studio album NIKOBO, featuring one of the greatest musicians he worked with during the years: Dimitar Liolev (alto and tenor saxophones), Dimitar Bodurov (keys and fender Rhodes, programming), Mihail Ivanov (double bass and electric bass), Dimitar Semov (drums and el. percussion). All tracks are composed by Neyko Bodurov (trumpet and flugelhon), produced, mixed by Dimitar Bodurov and mastered by Ivan Shopov. 

NIKOBO is debut album by the trumpet player Neyko Bodurov (1982), based in Varna, Bulgaria. Jazz music, beats and electronics collide in a set of original compositions, which can easily be wrapped as Nu Jazz. A playful mix of catchy themes, edgy solos and broken beats which is also contributed by the exceptional musicians who participated in NIKOBO. The album was released by the Dutch label Optomusic in early 2019.
